Uniform
We believe that a school uniform for students in Years 7-11 and a dress code for students in the sixth form help to promote a good working environment and instils a sense of pride in our School. Our uniform expectations ensure that clothing is suitable, comfortable, affordable and practical; in 2021, the Government announced all schools must ensure that uniform is affordable and where necessary make adjustments. We have also ensure that where possible, our uniform is gender neutral in keeping with the Equalities Act 2010. Five Ways students are expected to wear their uniform when travelling to and from school and at all times during the school day.
Changes to our uniform
Following feedback from our consultation launched on 13th May 2022 and in line with Government expectation, we have made changes to our current school uniform.
Changes will be effective from September 2023, thus allowing for a transition period for our current students.
New students joining KEFW in September 2022 will be expected to follow the new school uniform policy.

Years 7 – 11 (Applicable to New Year 7s 2022-2023)
Compulsory school uniform
- Black blazer with the KEFW school badge
- School tie with house stripe
- Grey V-neck school jumper or Grey V-neck sleeveless jumper (supermarket alternatives must be the same grey as KEFW version)
- White shirt with a standard collar
- Black tailored trousers/Grey pleated skirt, knee length
- Black or grey socks; Black tights
- Shoes must be black and polishable – no logos (not trainers, boots, sandals, ballet pumps)
Compulsory PE and Games uniform
- Black and grey KEFW sports’ top (new design)
- House t-shirt
- KEFW black shorts
- KEFW sports’ socks
- Indoor trainers
- Black swimsuit or swim shorts
- Hockey/Rugby top
Optional
- KEFW skort

Parents will be informed if this is a requirement.
Sixth Form (Applicable to New Year 12s 2022-2023)
- A black, navy or grey plain or pinstripe business suit (dress, skirt or trousers).
- Dresses and skirts should be the same colour as the jacket and should be of a respectable length, worn no shorter than mid-thigh. Miniskirts and skirts that cling to the body are not acceptable. Skirts should be of a proper suit material.
- Trousers should be made of a proper suit material; jeans and skin tight trousers must not be worn.
- A plain, respectable top or smart blouse with a collar and sleeves: blouses must not be see-through or revealing. If the blouse is worn without a tie, t-shirts and vest tops must not be visible.

- A plain tailored business shirt with buttons up to the neck, worn with a tie. Ties are mandatory and are to be worn properly at all times.
- A plain black, V-neck jumper may be worn, if necessary, under a jacket. Jumpers are not to be instead of a jacket. Sweatshirts and hoodies are not permitted.
- Black, navy or brown shoes must be smart, polishable, practical and sensible.
- Jewellery and piercings should be subtle and unobtrusive.
- No ‘extreme’, non-natural hair colours are permitted.
